Our first Armstrong family Thanksgiving went off without a hitch. We invited our friend Mike as well as 3 young Marines over for dinner. I made all of mom's famous sides and Jim fried a turkey. The turkey was the best ever! The guys were very grateful and I was so happy to feed some hungry boys!
At the beginning of December, Jim's dad and step-mom came to visit us! We had such a great time showing them around and letting them into our life here in Monterey. It really was a great visit and we hope they can come again before we leave for Montenegro!
Jim had a much needed two week break from school and we decided to spend the whole time in TN with family. It was so relaxing and refreshing to be with our families for the holidays. We flew into Nashville and spent a few days there then drove to Johnson City and spent a few days there and back to Nashville for a fantastic New Year's Eve with my brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Lillie. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect visit home.
We returned to our home on January 2nd and on January 4th it was time to celebrate some special guy's 30th Birthday! We had a few friends over to help us celebrate and I even attempted to make one of his favorites - key lime pie. It'll never compare to his mom's pineapple upside down cake but I tried!
It has been a wonderful holiday season here at the Armstrong home and we're ready to hit the ground running in 2014. Lots of changes will come this year and we've got lots to do to prepare!
